A vintage Victorian Revival style Sarah Coventry "Contessa" brooch/pendant. This large eye- catching brooch features a central set faux fire opal set in a high Victorian gilded shield style frame embellished with green and pink rhinestones. This piece can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant. Approximately 3" in height. Marked Coventry. In like new condition.
Sarah Coventry was founded in 1949 by Charles Stuart and was named for his granddaughter. Most of its production took place in Rhode Island. The company sold its jewelry largely through the use of "home parties".
