The Rice is on the Hob is a collaboration between Tami Aftab and her father, Tony Aftab, who lives with short-term memory loss due to a brain condition called hydrocephalus. Despite his memory loss, Tony has never forgotten the dishes of his childhood in Pakistan. Food and cooking have become a coping mechanism for him, and he and his daughter have long dreamed of co-authoring a photobook-meets-cookbook. In February this year, they traveled to Pakistan to shoot their latest series, which was both disorientating and overwhelming at times. However, the taste of the food made them feel at home. The book includes 16 of Tony's recipes and numerous handwritten memories. It also features a foreword by Jyoti Patel and a 4-page interview between the father and daughter.
