DONALD JUDD by Donald Judd (GALERIE THADDAEUS ROPAC)

A collection of works by American artist Donald Judd. Published in conjunction with the exhibition held at the Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in Seoul, South Korea, from September to October 2023.

Curated by Flavin Judd, son of the artist and head of the Judd Foundation, this exhibition marked Judd's first solo show in South Korea in approximately ten years. The artist had a personal connection to the country, having stayed in Korea in 1947. The Korean concept of "pungsu" (풍수 / 風水), similar to the Chinese "Feng shui," aided the artist in visualizing space. The exhibition, curated by Flavin Judd, showcased works spanning over 30 years, demonstrating experiments in minimalism across various media.

This collection of works was conceived and produced with the close cooperation of Flavin Judd, and the book's design reflects the artist's aesthetic values. The unique binding and layout, which explore the relationship between presence and absence, reflect the artist's strict adherence to simple forms, which characterize his work.
