The is a rare first edition of "Life of Galileo" by John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune. Printed in 1832 by William Hyde & Company in Boston, this biography by Bethune delves into the life of Galileo Galilei. Spine of book says, "Scholars Cabinet Library No. 1 - Life of Galileo"
Good/acceptable antique condition. Binding and cover in good clean condition. First title page is partially ripped. Pages are partially stained on first 80 pages of book. Original owner's name written in ink on inside cover. Name is "Albert Ring" (if I am reading last name correctly).
Card tucked into book is addressed to "Mr. A.S. Merrill" at MIT in 1900, which may indicate that the book was owned at one time by Allyne Merrill, who was an American physicist and faculty member at MIT.
